A little about Smriti and Koshishh
The main endeavor of Koshishh is to raise public awareness on various issues related to child sexual abuse by targeting the adults, because even
though it is prevalent in every sector of the society, adults prefer to be silent about it. In this quest we have initiated a ‘Promise Blue‘ campaign wherein we talk to adults on the issue of Child Sexual Abuse and they thereby promise to educate any child they know on Personal Safety by wearing a blue ribbon that says ‘I Promise’ so as to prevent Child Sexual Abuse.
I, the Founder Trustee of Koshishh, have completed my B.A. LL.B(Hons.) from Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, LL.M (Human Rights) from National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore and have been working on the issue of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) since four years now. My work includes documentaries which were presented to and appreciated by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam (former President of India), NLSIU and Alliance Franchise, Bangalore and legal research on the same. I have presented papers on this issue in various universities including NLSIU, Jamia Milia Ismailia University, New Delhi, Amity University, New Delhi, St Josephs College, Bangalore amongst others. We have also been a part of various radio shows in Bangalore focusing on this issue.
I have a question.
If a person has been abused as a child, lets say strong physical contact, and is now an adult, and wants to take the perpetrator to task. Is that legally feasible, can the perpetrator get sentenced? Because its unlikely that there will be any physical evidence or eye witnesses to the event.
